A Letter: 1 Looking for a Vacant Position Susanna
Hippstrom 2004-09-20 The
Michelin Guide
Dear Sir/Ms/Gentlemen/Mrs. XA/Mr. XXA (:/,) I've heard from friends of mine in London that you might have a vacant position as office clerk within the next couple of months. I am 20 years old and I recently finished my secondary school here in Sweden with good grades. I attended a business and administrative course fulltime for two years, and after that I worked fulltime at a local department store. I like to work with office and administration and I enjoy being with other people. Work hours is not a big deal for me and whether the work is long hours or a regular 8-hour day is of no major importance to me. I make a habit of being punctual and neat, both at work and in private. I like it when there is some sort of organization and structure in my work environment. However, I find it stimulating working with people not necessarily sharing my exact values. In my spare time I like to be with friends, play tennis, go fishing and go for long walks in the woods. At home, and usually when I'm alone, I play the piano. Preferably I play evergreens from the late 60s or early 70s. I have enclosed a testimonial which I hope will be of interest to you. In the event you'll consider me a suitable person for this position I will rush you my CV. Please feel free to inquire into my life as I really do fancy working in England in the near future.
Faithfully yours/ Yours faithfully, Susanna Hippstrom (Miss) Susanna Hippstrom

A Letter: 3 Regretting an Oversight
Dear Miss Dickson(:/,) I was very concerned when we received your letter of December 13 complaining that the deliveries made during the month of November were not satisfactory. Referring to our previous correspondence and phone conversation regarding this matter I realize now that we should have taken action against one of the drivers on that route. The fault is entirely mine and I deeply regret that I haven't solved this problem. I realize only too well the inconvenience my oversight must be causing you. I will do everything possible to avoid this from happening again. I have given instructions for this matter to have first priority and our transport manager will make sure we replace the responsible person or persons within short.
Yours sincerely,
A Letter: 4 Disciplinary action re. the use of credit card
Dear Mr. Teddy Barrister(:/,) This letter is to confirm our discussion of earlier today. Our company policy states that company credit cards are to be used for company business only. These cards are not authorized for personal use. Using a company credit card again for your personal purchases will lead to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension of credit card privileges and termination of employment. All billing statements for company credit cards are scrutinized carefully. No one individual is singled out. Please remember that it is a privilege to have the use of a company credit card. Treat this privilege with respect. Sincerely,
