Offer, Firm Offer, Quotation, Estimate & Bid/Tender (a promised price within stated period of time and according to specified conditions)...
Even if an offer is not a legally binding contract a firm offer is capable of acceptance and once it has been accepted it can't be withdrawn. An offer, a firm offer, is not binding until accepted.
An offer and a quotation are both offers to sell goods at a price and under conditions stated. An estimate is an offer to do certain work for a stated price usually based on a specification.
"This offer is valid through August 18 2004."
Like the quotation and offer an estimate is not a binding document (offer) so you are not bound to accept an order that may be placed against it.
A tender (bid) is an offer, quite frequently it is in response to a previously published ad (advertisement/advert) for supply of goods or work. Unlike the other types of quotation a tender may very well be an offer in the legal sense. It becomes legally binding once accepted.
anbud
få ett anbud antaget= win a bid, win a tender
ett förseglat anbud= a sealed bid/tender anbudsförfarande= bidding, tender
Encls. = enclosures (bilagor) Encl.
