a)
|
To
unite shipowners and other persons and organisations connected with
the shipping industry in order to consider, and if expedient, take
action on all matters affecting the shipping industry;
|
|
|
|
|
b)
|
To
communicate to members any useful information which may come to the
knowledge of BIMCO as well as instances of unfair charges and
claims, freight speculation, objectionable charter parties and other
practices;
|
|
|
|
|
c)
|
To
prepare and improve charter parties and other shipping documents and
to do so whenever possible by means of friendly negotiation with
charterers, shippers, merchants, receivers, shipowners, shipbrokers
and others connected with the shipping industry or with
organisations representing any such persons and to exhaust any
reasonable means of agreement before issuing any forms for use by
the shipping industry;

|
|
d)
|
To
issue as approved documents for the use of the shipping industry,
charter parties and other shipping documents, and to adopt as
approved documents for the like use, charter-parties and other
shipping documents which have been issued by similar organisations
or agreed by representatives of the parties concerned;
|
|
|
|
|
e)
|
To
meet and/or correspond with charterers, shippers, merchants,
receivers, ship-owners, shipbrokers and others engaged in the
shipping industry, and with representatives or organisations of any
such persons, as to any matter connected with the shipping industry;
|
|
|
|
|
f)
|
To
become a member of any organisation, committee or other body having
similar objectives as BIMCO, or organisations which may further the
objectives of BIMCO;
|
|
|
|
|
g)
|
To
co-operate with, support the action and policy of, and take
concerted action with any other organisations working in the
interests of the shipping industry.
|
|
|
|
|
h)
|
To
assist members in cases of unfair treatment by governments,
authorities or other similar bodies by investigating same, and, when
appropriate, taking concerted action;
|
|
|
|
|
i)
|
To
take such steps in the interest of the shipping industry as may
appear desirable;
|
|
|
|
|
j)
|
Generally
to take any measures consistent with the spirit of these Rules and
which may appear expedient in furtherance of the foregoing
objectives.
